Pakistan PM Arrives in China for Official Visit, Economic Talks
(MENAFN) Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Hangzhou on Saturday, beginning a four-day official visit aimed at strengthening strategic coordination and expanding economic cooperation between Pakistan and China.
According to reports from state media, Sharif landed in Zhejiang province where he is scheduled to lead a Pakistan–China business-to-business investment conference focused on sectors including IT and telecommunications, battery energy storage systems, and agriculture.
The visit comes as Islamabad continues its diplomatic engagement efforts linked to indirect talks involving the United States and Iran aimed at de-escalating ongoing regional tensions.
Sharif is accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar along with other senior officials.
After his stay in Hangzhou, the Pakistani prime minister is expected to travel to Beijing for high-level meetings with Chinese leadership, including President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang.
The meeting with Xi is seen as particularly significant, as Beijing has recently hosted several global leaders amid ongoing diplomatic activity related to efforts to reduce tensions between Washington and Tehran.
