Registration for the “Chinese Culture and I—Exploring Macao’s History through Cultural Creativity” Competition is now open Discover Macao’s cultural and creative potential

MACAU, September 18 - Registration for the “Chinese Culture and I—Exploring Macao’s History through Cultural Creativity” Competition, jointly organised by the Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China, and coordinated by the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government and the National Museum of China, is open from 16 September until 30 October. Members of the public are welcome to participate in the Competition, showcasing the Chinese culture and Macao’s characteristics in the design of cultural and creative products.

As one of the highlights of the “Chinese Culture and I—Exploring Macao’s History through Cultural Creativity” Competition and a of the Series of Exchange Activities, entries for this Competition must focus on the “recommended cultural elements”, exploring the value and connotation of cultural resources from a cultural and creative perspective, highlighting Macao’s urban symbols and cultural characteristics, showcasing Macao’s positioning as “a base for exchange and cooperation where Chinese culture is the mainstream and diverse cultures coexist”. The products should meet modern aesthetic and consumer needs, with the combination of cultural elements and daily life, as well as originality, market potential and feasibility for mass production.

The Competition features one Gold award, one Silver award and Bronze award, respectively, as well as seven Merit awards. Award-winners will receive cash prizes and certificates. Individuals aged 18 or above are eligible to participate, each participant may submit a maximum of five entries. The jury will select entries based on criteria such as the theme and meaning, market potential, aesthetics and creativity. In order to facilitate the transformation of creative outcomes into tangible products, the award-winning works will be manufactured into products by IC. The Competition’s rules and regulations, as well as application forms are available on the thematic website at https://mcc.icm.gov.mo. Applicants may submit their documents in person at the Cultural Affairs Bureau Building during office hours, by post or by email to register_dpicc@icm.gov.mo.
